The killers were identified as Wale Adeyemo, 37, and Kingsley Chibueze, 26. Adeyemo is a former staff of the couple.

It will be recalled the couple was found dead at their residence around Allen Avenue, in the Ikeja area of Lagos State.

The couple was at home with their housemaid on the day of the governorship and state House of Assembly elections when three men invaded the premises and killed them. They were killed on March 18, 2023.

The housemaid was injured and rushed to the hospital, where she was said to have recuperated. The couple’s bodies had marks of violence. The maid was found unconscious, with bruises on her face and body.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, who paraded the suspects, said that one was still at large.

He explained: “Based on intelligence, Police operatives of the command arrested Wale Adeyemo and Kingsley Chibueze for the ghastly murder of an elderly couple in their home on the 19th of March 2023.

“Investigation revealed that Wale who was formerly an employee of the couple, requested to be paid off and was obliged sometime in February and during the cash crunch, recruited Kingsley to aid his plans of robbing the victims.

“The robbery then led to the gruesome murder of the couple and vicious attack on the housemaid. The suspects went away with an unaccounted sum of money in Dollars and Naira with two Samsung smartphones.”
