So-Safe Corps arrests suspect, recovers arms, ammunition in Ogun

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps codenamed So-Safe Corps has apprehended a member of an armed robbery syndicate terrorizing Ogun State.

This is contained in a press release issued from the office of the State Commander of the Corps, Commander (Dr) Soji Ganzallo through the Office of the Director of Information and public relations of the Corps, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf.

Ganzallo said that at about 0115hrs on 28th July 2023, the special team of the corps on a routine patrol led by Obadeyi Bolaji sighted four gang members at New Life Community, Olokopupo, Atan, in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government suspected to be strategizing to embark on criminal activity.

The statement said that the team of the Corps challenged them and they responded by opening fire at the officers.

Ganzallo noted that the team succeeded in apprehending one of the gang members and recovery of one locally-made pistol with 3 live cartridges from Mr Saheed Ade, a 33-year-old resident of Ipokia, in Ipokia Local Government.

Ganzallo further said that the apprehended suspect confessed that the three gang members who escaped, T. J, Monsuru and Yusuf are residents of Ipokia too. He then revealed that their mission in the axis as they do was to steal a Sienna Car bought from their boss called Dao who lives in Cotonou, Republic of Benin and to return the Sienna back to him at Cotonou and to resell back to Nigeria in a different colour.

Ganzallo has instructed the Agbara Area Commander of the Corps, ACC Adebesin Lukmon to work with the police in getting the rest culprits arrested.

The Nigeria Police Force  Atan Divisional Headquarters is on further investigation on the matter while the injured apprehended armed robber and one of the injured officers of the So-Safe are receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
