Kuje Prison Attack: DSS sets the records straight

-

Juliana Francis

The Department of State Services (DSS) has decided to set some records straight, concerning the actual events and casualties that occurred because of the terrorist attack on Kuje Prison in Abuja on Wednesday.

The Public Relations Officer of the Services, Peter Afunanya, stated that the need to present the fact became necessary following erroneous reports sighted on some daily sites and social media handles.

According to him, reports claiming that a DSS agent was inside the prison during the attack were false and misleading.

He said: “The Service wishes to state that none of its personnel was involved in the escape episode. In fact, at the point of the attack on the prison, no DSS personnel was an inmate at the holding facility just as the claim of carrying out a special assignment was non-existent. The report is not factual and therefore misleading. The public is advised to disregard it.”
