The Delta State Police Command has announced a comprehensive security strategy to ensure the two-day holiday remains peaceful and hitch-free.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, has ordered the immediate strategic deployment of personnel across all twenty-five Local Government Areas.
This robust operation, scheduled for Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, includes a mix of conventional police officers, tactical units, and specialised operational assets.
Security forces will be concentrated at all Eid prayer grounds and at identified strategic locations to prevent any breach of peace. Beyond counter-terrorism and crime prevention, the Command is also prioritising the free flow of traffic, which often becomes a bottleneck during festive periods.
“The Command is fully prepared to deal decisively with any threat to public peace,” CP Adesola warned. “I have directed all Divisional Police Officers, Area Commanders, and Tactical Commanders to intensify intelligence-led raids on criminal hideouts and known black spots.”
The Commissioner sent a stern message to criminal elements, specifically citing cultists and mischief-makers, stating that any unlawful acts would be met with the full weight of the law. To ensure the plan is executed effectively, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations has been tasked with the direct coordination and supervision of all deployments.
The primary focus of this security apparatus involves a heavy tactical presence in high-risk areas and proactive sweeps of criminal hideouts. Meanwhile, the Command is urging residents to remain law-abiding and vigilant, reporting any suspicious activities to their nearest police station immediately.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, seen by Securitynewsalert.com, the Commissioner extended his warmest wishes to the Muslim community on behalf of the Command’s management team. He emphasised that the sustenance of peace and security remains the priority before, during, and after the celebrations.
“The Commissioner of Police, on behalf of the Management Team, officers, and men of the Command, wishes all Muslim faithful a peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration,” the statement concluded. #Securitynewsalert.com
