CP Engages Political Party Leaders, Candidates To Sign Peace Accord To Ensure Hitch Free  Bye/Re-Run Elections

In his zeal and determination to provide a level playing ground for all political gladiators during the forthcoming Bye/Re-Run elections in Arewa/ Dandi and Shanga/Yuari/Ngaski federal constituencies, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Chris Aimionowane, in collaboration with heads of other security agencies in the state, had an engagement with political party leaders and candidates of the two affected constituencies to sign a peace accord to enable the general public to exercise their franchise in the affected areas of the state.

The CP further called on them to eschew all forms of violence and provocative words to opponents during the election. He equally advised them to warn their supporters to desist from carrying any lethal weapon of any kind during the elections.

The CP further added that a joint operations room comprised of all security agencies has been established in the Police command Headquarters with SP Tijjani Mukhtar Bunza, as Officer in charge.

They are to receive complaints on the conduct of the election across the two affected constituencies for prompt response.

Moreover, the CP appealed to members of the public to reach the joint operations room via 08038797644/ 09062925404 for any emergency or distress.

Similarly, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Independent National Electoral Commission, Kebbi State, Alhaji Abubakar S. Fawa Danbo reiterated the need for the political party leaders and candidates to live in peace with one another.

He equally reminded them to extend their hands of friendship to maintain the peaceful nature of the state as it has been known.

In the same vein, the Resident Electoral Commissioner also advised them to be extremely careful by verifying the veracity of any publication seen on social media concerning the conduct of the forthcoming Bye/Re-Run elections in the two affected constituencies in the state.

While offering fatherly advice, the Emir of Gwandu, who was ably represented by the Baraden Gwandu, Maj. Gen. Nasiru Iliyasu Bashar (Rtd), appreciated the Commissioner of police/organizers of the peace accord and called on the party leaders and candidates to shun all forms of violence to strengthen the already existing mutual relationship among the good people of Kebbi State for meaningful development as well as for socio-economic activities to thrive.

Representatives of various political parties and candidates who spoke during the epoch-making event promised to abide by the calls made to them to maintain the peaceful nature of Kebbi State. In the end, the Peace Accord was finally signed to the admiration of all present.
