These arrests and recoveries of arms and ammunition were said to have been made within the last 100 days, marking the Lagos State Commissioner, Mr Adegoke Fayoade into the state as the number one Policeman.

Fayoade, while addressing journalists on these achievements during a public parade of suspects and exhibits at the Police Headquarters in Ikeja, said that those arrested include suspected cultists, armed robbers, and kidnappers among others.

According to him, many suspects were arrested during raids of different black spots in the state, noting that 2,253 of those raided were prosecuted, while many others were currently been processed for prosecution.

He pointed out specifically that in the past month, the command arrested 64 suspects, including armed robbery, cultists, and others for unlawful possession of firearms and illicit drugs.

He said: “We recovered a total of 20 firearms, including four toy guns, 120 rounds of toy ammunition, 28 live ammunitions, 15 live cartridges,  three expended cartridges, four vehicles, seven POS machines, cutlasses, illicit drugs and various charms.

“A total of 4,502 motorcycles have so far been impounded on banned routes and have been handed over to the State Government for crushing. All suspects are to be charged to court after investigation.”

Fayoade maintained that in the last 100 days, he has piloted the affairs of the Command with all sense of professionalism and had also charged his men to be up and doing. He had further urged them not to spare the big stick on officers found wanting of professional misconduct.

He stressed that the security architecture of the command was rejigged with township patrol, paying special attention to high-risk areas, especially at peak periods, which he stressed has helped to reduce traffic robberies.

He commended the media and sister security agencies for their support within the period, calling for more collaborations

The Commissioner said that the command was committed to the security of lives and properties in Lagos State, stressing that the waterways were being policed in collaboration with the Navy and JTF.
