Three Killed As Truck Fails Brake, Causes Multiple Accidents

Three people were killed on Sunday 13th of October 2024, after a truck, laden with black oil, had a brake failure, causing multiple accidents at Second Rainbow, inward Mile 2, along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway area of Lagos State.

The Lagos State Police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident stated that an unregistered M.A.N truck laden with black oil, the driver yet unknown, had a brake failure, lost control and rammed into three vehicles; two Volkswagen commercial buses, which were conveying passengers, drivers yet unknown, and a Honda saloon car with registration number Ktu-223-Gh.

Hundeyin said: “The driver is also yet unknown. This occurred at Second Rainbow, inward Mile 2, along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway. As a result, three passengers, whose names and addresses are yet unknown, in one of the commercial buses, died on the spot.

“ It was based on the report, that the scene was visited and photographed by teams of traffic personnel of the division. The corpses have been evacuated and deposited at a public morgue for autopsy. However, the vehicles have been returned to  VIO’s office for inspection. Meanwhile, the effort is ongoing to arrest the erring fleeing driver.”
