Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested two suspected gunrunners Ifeanyi Nneji, 29 and Idowu Peter, 32, at the Oil Mill junction area of the state.
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka, said both suspects were in the process of selling a locally made pistol to Bariduanem Dim Justice 34.
He said: “Operatives of this Command on 10th August 2022, through Intelligence-led policing, arrested one Ifeanyi Nneji, 29 and Idowu Peter, 32, at Oil mill junction, in the process of selling a locally made pistol to Bariduanem Dim Justice, 34, a native of Baroko in Gokana Local Government Area. Exhibits recovered from them are two locally made double barrel pistols. They were all apprehended and are helping us in our investigation.”
In another development, operatives of the command on 25th August 2022, around PAMO University of Medicine, in Oyigbo LGA, arrested two suspects namely, Isah Mohammed, 20 and Inuwa Ibrahim 20, all of no fixed addresses, who fled on sighting the Police.
“Upon search, one locally made revolver pistol was recovered from them. Also recovered was a Toyota Corolla saloon car with registration No. Bayelsa, NEM 881 GK, where it was abandoned by hoodlums who fled on sighting the team. The investigation is ongoing with the view to arresting the suspects at large. Exhibits recovered are one Toyota Corolla Blue in colour with Reg/No Bayelsa NEM 881 GK and one locally made Revolver pistol,” said Eboka.
