Eid-el-Fitr: NSCDC Deploys 2, 250 Personnel, Vows To Arrest Vandals Of Government Property

-

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has deployed 2, 250 personnel to ensure safety of lives and property during the Eid-el-Fitr celebration in the state.

The Eid-el-Fitr, also called, “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide.

It marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan.

The Lagos State Commandant, NSCDC, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, addressing officers and men of the Command, said that the special deployment of personnel was in line with the Federal Government’s declaration of Monday 31st March and Tuesday 1st April, 2025 as public holidays to mark the celebration.

Keshinro disclosed that officers and men deployed for this assignment were drawn from various departments, units, divisions, and area commands of the service across the state.

The commandant explained that the deployment was to ensure lives and property were safe and secured as well as protect the critical national assets and infrastructure of the State before, during and after the celebration.

The Commandant further said that the critical national assets and infrastructure situated at strategic points, including recreational centres, strategic facilities, manholes, telecommunication cables, fibres, masts, CCTV cameras, railway sleepers, health facilities, transformers, oil and gas pipelines and water pipes, among others will be watched during and after the festivity.

According to him, watching such government property was the best way to avoid huge economic losses to sabotage and the nefarious activities of unrepentant criminal elements and vandals in the state.

Keshinro also seized the opportunity to warn all criminal elements, particularly vandals, to desist from their evil acts of economic sabotage or be ready to face the wrath of the law.
