Oil Thieves Flee As Lagos NSCDC Operatives Seize 70 kegs Containing 25 litres PMS Each, Sacks, Other Exhibits

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, Badagry Division, during a routine surveillance and patrol, on Monday, 26th May, 2025, at about 04:50am raided the hideouts of some suspected vandals and recovered illegal products found in kegs, sacks and plastic containers.

The Command relied upon credible and actionable intelligence from the good people of Badagry, before directing its personnel to forestall, the already organized, method by which the unscrupulous elements initially, wanted, to use to syphon, their illegally, gotten petroleum products to the neighbouring countries bordering Badagry.

The exhibits recovered from the routine patrol of the Badagry Divisional office, led by Chief Superintendent of Corps Ekunola Gbenga, include the below;

seventy ( 70 ) yellow kegs of twenty – five litres ( 25ltrs ), One ( 1 ) fifteen ( 15 ) litres keg, 1 ten ( 10 ) litres keg, 6 five ( 5 ) litres keg, two hundred and fifty ( 250 ) big and seventy ( 70 ) plastic bottles, three ( 3 ) small sacks of Petroleum Motor Spirit ( PMS ). Other exhibits include: :1 motorcycle seat and 1 tank.

The State Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, has seized, this meaningful seizure, by his gallant personnel, at the Badagry axis of the state, to avow his zero tolerance approach towards oil pipeline vandalism, syphoning of oil products and other forms of economic sabotage, by unscrupulous elements in the state.

The Lagos State Commandant further said that the seizure is in line with the unflinching efforts, of the Commandant General, NSCDC, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, to rid the nation of economic saboteurs, vandals and oil thieves hampering the wheel of progress in the downstream sector of the nation’s economy.

He further stressed that the Command has beefed up its intelligence and operational strategies, to respond to the disturbing activities of elements, who may want to exhibit their desperation for illicit money at all cost, by carrying out their unpatriotic and dastardly acts possible of jeopardizing the good and developmental policies of government on the nations economy, especially, as we approach the Salah celebration ( festive period ).

Investigation into the matter is ongoing as the Lagos State Commandant has directed, the relevant department to take necessary actions and ensure that the fleeing culprits are apprehended and brought to book in the short possible time.
