Good Samaritan Arrested After Raping Neighbour

…8 Arrested For Advance Fee Fraud, Identity Theft And Drug Abuse

 

A Good Samaritan,  Sand Umaru, who came to assist his 18-year-old  to start a generating set, then pounced on her and raped her, has been arrested.

The Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a Superintendent of Police, Ugbo Irene, who confirmed the incident, explained: “On the 13th of  May 2025, Mr Sanda Umaru, the alleged perpetrator, was invited by one of his neighbour, names withheld, who is 18-year-old to help her start their house generator, thereafter Sanda Umaru noticing that she was alone at home, dragged her and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her. The suspect has been transferred to the Gender Unit, State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) for legal process.”

In another development, the Command arrested nine suspects for Advance Fee Fraud, Identity Theft and Drug Abuse.

The Police explained that on the 16th of May, at about 7 am, the Command Surveillance Unit, Calabar, arrested six suspects for advance fee fraud, identity theft and drug abuse via credible information at Musaha Street, off Yellow Duke, Calabar.

The suspects were identified as Ipoule Favour, 17, Igbaji Peter, 20, Ikpe  Peter, 20, Victory Ubong, 17.

Moshor Joshua,16,  and Victor Udofia, 20.

A Search Warrant was executed in the house and premises of the suspects, where some quantity of illicit drugs were recovered in one of the suspects’ houses.

Similarly, on 18th of May, at about 8:am, the team also arrested two suspects for same offences at Ebuka Street, Calabar South. The two suspects are Alex James Eru, 33 and  Ebak Emmanuel Monday, 25.

The PPRO said that the suspects will be jointly charged in court as soon as the investigation is completed.
