Man arrested for vandalising govt property, stealing transformer cables

A 25 years old man, Mudashiru Mujeeb, has been arrested for vandalising government property and stealing transformer cables.

On 4th September 2022 at about 6:30 PM, the suspect was arrested at the Sango area of Iseyin in Oyo State while trying to escape with six pieces of Electric wire Cables which he allegedly vandalised and stole from two Electrical power Transformers at Isale Osa area Igboora in Oyo State.

The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adewale Osifeso, said: “The Cables which belonged to Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) was sighted with the suspect by residents of the community and he was arrested and subsequently handed over to the police at Igboora Divisional Headquarters, from where the matter was transferred to State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) Iyaganku for discreet investigation. The suspect has since voluntarily confessed to committing the crime as well as others. Items found on him at the time of apprehension include; two power banks, five charging cords, three charging adaptors,  three pieces of an earpiece and two audio cords from a shop in the same community. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining members of the criminal gang.”
