Two teenagers, David Jeremiah 19 and Austine Clement, 19, were suspected armed robbers that allegedly invaded and raided some communities in Ibadan, Oyo State, leaving a trail of fear.

The gang of armed robbers, on 11th September 2022 at about 8: 30PM, invaded Igbo-Oloyin Community via Ojoo area, Ibadan, Oyo. Other suspects are Monday Maleek, 20, Lanre Divian, 39.

Some victims are Aminu Abdulahi, Babaelemu, Aminu Janet, Koba Ediku, Adeoye Muyiwa and Ifeoluwa Adeoye.

The State’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adewale Osifeso, said: “The notorious men of the underworld who were armed with guns and some other dangerous weapons broke and entered into some houses where they attacked members of the community and also dispossessed them of cell phones, huge sums of money and some other valuable items at gunpoint. However, while the hoodlums were fleeing from the scene of the crime, some members of a local vigilance group quickly alerted a team of police operatives attached to the Command’s Monitoring Unit who were on an intelligence-based Anti-Crime patrol in the area. The operatives gave the armed robbers a hot chase and in the process, four members of the criminal gang who later identified themselves as Monday Maleek, Austine Clement, Lanre Divian and David Jeremiah, were arrested in connection with the crime. One small hoe which was part of the instrument used to attack the victims was recovered from the suspects. Upon interrogations, the suspects confessed to the crime and a series of similar criminal activities they had masterminded in other parts of the Ibadan metropolis. The investigation is now in progress. Further developments will be communicated later.”
