Delta Police Launches Manhunt for Activist “Wong Box” Over Assault, Threatening Female Official with Machete + VIDEO

-

The Delta State Police Command has declared one Victor Ojei, popularly known as “Wong Box,” wanted for multiple offences, including assault occasioning harm, threat to life, and threatening violence.

The suspect, a self-acclaimed human rights activist, was initially arrested on August 14, 2025, for the offences but was granted bail on the same day. Since then, he has failed to return to the police station for further investigation.

According to the Command, the case stems from an incident on May 29, 2025, at about 11:00 a.m., when staff of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) visited Ojei’s residence on Anyameluhor Street, Asaba, to disconnect his electricity supply over an outstanding debt of ₦4,870,780.

On sighting the BEDC team, Ojei allegedly attacked them with a cutlass, threatening violence if they failed to reconnect his compound. Out of fear for their lives, the technicians complied. During the altercation, a pregnant BEDC staff member reportedly fell and was later hospitalised, where she received treatment for over two weeks.

In video evidence obtained by the Command, Ojei was heard issuing several threats, including ordering the technicians to reconnect his house, threatening to “burst their head, repeatedly shouting, “I go cut una,” and brandishing a cutlass while declaring, “I go cut you, and nothing go happen.”

The suspect also boasted of being “Wong Box of Delta State,” warning the BEDC staff to always “ask questions” and claiming he was a politician.

Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, reaffirmed that no individual is above the law and vowed that the suspect would be rearrested and brought to justice.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, urged members of the public with useful information about the whereabouts of Ojei to contact the Command immediately.
