Delta Police Dismantles Ladder Theft Ring, Arrests 10 Suspects

-

Police operatives from the Ekpan Division, Delta Police Command, have arrested ten suspects and recovered eleven stolen ladders, dismantling a syndicate that targeted local businesses by posing as customers.

The arrests followed numerous complaints from business owners who reported that individuals would rent expensive ladders and never return them.

According to a police spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) launched an intelligence-led investigation on August 12, 2025, to address the string of thefts.

Edafe said that the investigation led to the arrest of a primary suspect, Esquire Stanley. During questioning, Stanley allegedly admitted to selling the stolen ladders—valued at approximately each—for as little as.

“Three victims have already identified the suspects,” Edafe stated.

Further investigation led to the arrest of four alleged receivers of the stolen goods: Chinedu Okorie, Orgi Abara, Philip Augustine, and Obone Jevweu. In total, 10 suspects are in custody.

The investigation is ongoing as police work to identify other potential victims and recover more stolen property.
