-

By Emmanuel Udom

Security agents in Ogun state have placed crime-prone communities in the state on red alert.

This is coming as the ember months begin in September and is expected to end early January, next year. Surveillance conducted by our correspondent in the last three weeks reveals that virtually all communities in all the local government areas of the gateway state are now under close watch.

For instance, all the 18 banks located between Sango Ora and the toll gate along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway have undercover and uniforPoliceice officers from the Sango police area command and other stations to guide the banks. At the top of the list of these banks are: First Bank, GTB, Zenith, Fidelity, UBA, Ecobank. However, reports from A1 reveal that Odo/Ota local government area
is noted for burglary, and armed robbery. According to A1, two suspected robbers were arrested at Agoro community by some so_safe corps officials last year. In 2023, suspected cultists allegedly stormed Tai Solarin College of Education hostel for female students and rough-habited the students.
At the top of the lists of alleged crimes, the polic , DSS, so_safe, Amotekun, Vigilantes and other security agents are battling to tame assaults, robbery, ritual activities, cultism, etc. Ijebu, Reno, Ifo, Abeokuta, Ewekoro, Sango Ora, Sagamu, Obafemi Owode, are some of these local government areas that the security agents, as expected, have infiltra ted.For instance, since the beginning of this month, the only visible branded police patrol van from Ifo police station has been patroling the Lagos_Abeokuta expressway, where undercover and uniform police officers, DSS operatives and other paramilitary agents have placed Ifo market, Wema Bank, Access Bank, Primemart Superstores, APC and PDP secretariat’s and other heavily populated areas and busstop under watch.

Miss Damy Abioye, acting Registrar, Ifo College of Management Technology, Ifopolytech told our correspondent last week that students of the college, on or off campus are closely watched in order to ensure that they are not into cultism, prostitution or any other criminal acts.
The local nature of most of the communities and villages from our investigations have resulted in some suspected criminals, human traffickers, and ritualists relocating to these communitiestoto escape the heat unleashed on them by the police and other security agents in cities around Lagos and Ogun state When our correspondent visited Ifo police station Friday, Olabisi Kamonideen, a superintendent of police and DPO of the station, with Seyi Williams, assistant commissioner of police and area police commander for the newly created Ifo police command were seen giving instructions to thier officers ahead of thier patrols.
