Troops Sustain Onslaught Against Bandits in Taraba, Recover Arms, Motorcycle

-

In continuation of Operation Lafiya Nakowa, a mission aimed at flushing out bandits and other criminal elements from Taraba State, troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have carried out coordinated clearance operations across identified hideouts in Takum and Ussa Local Government Areas.

According to a military statement, the operation was launched following credible intelligence on the activities of bandits around Tarhembe, Tornyi, TY Farm, and the Kando general area in Tati, Takum LGA, as well as reports of farmland destruction in Ussa LGA. Acting on this information, troops simultaneously embarked on clearance missions on October 5, 2025.

Team A advanced into Tarhembe and Tornyi, where they made contact with bandits. The troops’ superior firepower forced the criminals to retreat into the forest. During the follow-up search, the soldiers recovered four rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one AK-47 magazine, and a motorcycle.

Team B conducted operations across Lissam in Ussa LGA, moving through Kutukok, Konkan, Fank Utaih, Kijwu, Kutukwo, Kwesati, and Alaha. While no resistance was encountered, several suspected bandit camps in the area were destroyed to deny the criminals safe havens.

Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their resilience and professionalism. He urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to aid the ongoing operations.

General Uwa noted that the clearance operations have further disrupted the activities of criminal elements, restricted their movements, and reassured local communities of the Nigerian Army’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
