The Delta State Police Command joined the global celebration of the 2025 Customer Service Week with a statewide community engagement on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
As part of the activities, the Command organised an outreach across major towns, appreciating residents for their support and cooperation in the ongoing fight against crime and criminality. Souvenirs and gift items were presented to road users, market women, parents, and youths as tokens of gratitude for their partnership with the police.
The initiative, according to the Command, underscores the importance of community partnership in policing. “Protection of lives and property is the core mandate of the Nigeria Police, and the populace can rightly be seen as customers because we are partners in crime fighting,” the statement noted.
Similar outreach activities were held in Ughelli, Warri, Sapele, and other parts of the state, where officers distributed items such as books and learning materials to residents, as well as primary and secondary school students.
Speaking during the event, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, described the outreach as part of the Command’s non-kinetic approach to combating crime.
“This is a deliberate effort to strengthen trust and collaboration between the police and the community,” Abaniwonda said. “We intend to sustain this initiative to further bridge the gap between the police and the people we serve.”
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all Deltans while promoting mutual understanding and respect between law enforcement officers and the public.
