NDLEA Storms Illicit Drug Enclave, Arrests Major Female Distributor In Ogun

Last week, operatives of the National DruLawws Agency, NDLEA, stormed a notorious illicit drug enclave and arrested some suspects.

It was gathered that the operatives, acting on a tip-off, placed Ilupeju and Alaja communities around the Bank bus stop in Ifo, Ogun state, under watch.

Our correspondent, who visited the drug communities, observed that from the bus stop area along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway, Indian hemp and other illicit drugs are being sold daily to code users.

Operatives of the NDLEA, on arriving at the enclave dead in the night, allegedly picked one Alhaja, a popular lady, who is noted for being a major distributor of Igbo to area boys, suspected criminals other users around communities in Ifo, Ewekoro, Sango Ota, Kajola and Eve Nla.

A source at Ilupeju Street alleged that the female drug distributor was arrested alongside some drug users at her house, which is nearing completion. As at the time of. Filling this report, those arrested were said to have been whisked away to the Abeokuta office of the agency in Ogun state, for profiling and interrogation.

Meanwhile, the police and DSShaves placed banks, markets, shopping malls and religious premises under red alert. This follows the increased presence of area boys, especially in the morning and late at nig, ht along crime and violence-prone points along the expressway.

Our correspondent observed throughout last week that the only branded patrol vehicle from Ifo police station patrolled streets around Orile Ifo, Oluomo, Ewe Nla, Alaja, and U-turn Alafia. Access Bank, Wema Bank, Convenant Microfinance Bank, Primemart Superstores, Ifo market, Ifo High Court and other places under watch.
