Troops of 12 Brigade Foil Bandits’ Ambush, Rescue Kidnapped Victim in Kogi State

-

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade have successfully thwarted an ambush by armed bandits and rescued a kidnapped victim during a coordinated operation in the Oshokoshoko–Obajana axis of Lokoja Local Government Area.
Acting on credible intelligence about bandits moving abducted persons across the corridor, troops from the Kabba Patrol Base, working jointly with Other Hybrid Forces, launched a special ambush in the early hours of November 25.

Contact was made with the armed criminals, who opened fire. The troops responded with superior firepower, forcing the bandits to retreat in disarray. One bandit was neutralised, while others fled with gunshot wounds.

The operation led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and the rescue of a kidnapped victim. The victim, found weak and distressed, was immediately evacuated to a medical facility for treatment. Pursuit operations are ongoing to track down fleeing members of the criminal group.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on criminal groups and ensuring the safety of communities across Kogi State. Residents are urged to continue supporting security agencies with timely information to strengthen the collective fight against crime
