-

The Kebbi State Police Command has announced the arrest of several suspects linked to a motorcycle theft ring, as well as the apprehension of a man accused of fatally stabbing a teenager in Birnin Kebbi.

According to the command, on 20 November 2025, at about 7:30 a.m., operatives attached to the Warrah Division arrested two suspects, 22-year-old Muhammad Sa’idu of Kwanga village and Kabiru Suleiman of Warrah town, Ngaski LGA, for stealing a Bajaj motorcycle belonging to Murtala Ibrahim of Warrah.

During interrogation, Sa’idu reportedly confessed to conspiring with several others, including Abdulrahman of Tungan Mairuwa village, Hassan Kamaye and Hussaini Kamaye of Auna town, Magama LGA, Niger State, as well as Yahuza Aliyu of Warrah and Umar Kapon, both of whom are currently at large.

A subsequent search of the residence of Yahuza Aliyu led to the recovery of multiple suspected stolen items, including two sewing machines, two boat engines, three pumping machines, two generator sets, two grinding machines, one plasma television, four motorcycles, a 6kg gas cylinder cooker, two large solar panels, and three motorcycle fuel tanks.

In a separate incident, the command is investigating the death of 17-year-old Salihu Hassan of Gura Guri village, Makera district, Birnin Kebbi LGA, who was found in a pool of blood at Ilelaryari area, Birnin Kebbi, on 24 November 2025, around 7:00 a.m.

Police officers and vigilantes responded swiftly and evacuated the victim to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical practitioner.

A 22-year-old suspect, Jame Jidda of the Ilelaryari area, has been arrested following credible intelligence. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect confessed to stabbing the deceased in the neck with a sharp knife after an argument.

The command said efforts are ongoing to recover the weapon used and transfer the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

Reacting to the incidents, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani, urged youths across the state to avoid taking the law into their own hands and to seek peaceful, lawful avenues for resolving disputes.
