IGP Disu Shakes Up Police Hierarchy, Redeploys AIGs, CPs

-

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered the immediate redeployment of dozens of senior police officers to key strategic positions across the country.

The announcement, released today, March 24, 2026, by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, underscores a massive structural reorganisation aimed at enhancing leadership capacity and improving service delivery within the Nigeria Police Force.

The reorganisation sees several Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) taking over critical departments at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. Notably, AIG Miller G. Dantawaye takes charge of the Department of Operations, while AIG Joseph Eribo oversees the Department of Armament.

Other key shifts include AIG Henry Ifeanyi Uche in Training and Development, AIG Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo in Police Accounts and Budget, AIG Ado Emmanuel in Research and Planning, and AIG Ahmed Musa in Community Policing.

The IGP’s order also impacts several Zonal Commands and State Police Commissioner positions, signalling a fresh approach to regional security. Among the Zonal shifts, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh has been posted to Zone 2, Lagos, AIG Dahiru Mohammed to Zone 15, Maiduguri, and AIG Dankombo F. Morris to Zone 4, Makurdi.

At the state level, CP Olatunji Olaiwola Fatai takes over the Lagos State Command, while CP Muhammed Sanusi Ahmed leads the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command. Other new Commissioners include CP Olugbenga Ayodeji Abimbola for Oyo State, CP Olubode Ojajuni for Ogun State, and CP Yemi John Oyeniyi for Delta State. Additional postings were confirmed for Jigawa, Ekiti, Adamawa, Taraba, Zamfara, Katsina, and Sokoto.

The reshuffling extends to specialised arms of the force, including INTERPOL, the Special Protection Unit (SPU), and the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID).

Among the notable appointments, CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue takes over INTERPOL Abuja, while CP Moses Ashu Otta has been posted to lead SWAT in Abuja. CP Rebecca Uchenna Okereke has been named the Director of Music at Force Headquarters, and CP Kayode Uthman Magaji will head the K9 unit in Dei-Dei.

In his charge to the newly posted officers, IGP Disu emphasised that these movements are not merely administrative but are strategic deployments intended to create a more effective command structure. He urged the officers to bring their wealth of experience to bear and to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and discipline.

“I expect the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and service in the discharge of your duties to the Nigerian public,” the IGP stated.

The postings are effective immediately as the Force looks to tighten its internal security apparatus. #securitynewsalert.com
