Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have dealt a significant blow to Boko Haram and ISWAP, neutralising several fighters and dismantling critical supply lines across the theatre.
The offensive, which took place between March 31 and April 4, 2026, saw a breakthrough near Geidam. Acting on credible intelligence, Sector 2 troops and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force intercepted a logistics convoy.
The ensuing gun battle left three terrorists dead and their vehicle disabled, preventing food and mobile devices from reaching insurgent camps.
“Troops engaged the insurgents with decisive firepower,” stated Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer for the task force. He noted that the operation was part of a broader strategy to “effectively deny criminal elements freedom of action” throughout the region.
The military’s counter-IED units also reported success along the Konduga–Kawuri axis. An ambush on a team of insurgents attempting to plant explosives resulted in a tactical victory when military fire triggered one of the devices, killing two terrorists instantly.
Further north, engineers safely detonated an additional IED on the Ngoshe-Pulka road, a move officials say was vital for “ensuring safe movement along the route.”
Beyond the battlefield, the operation shifted toward intelligence-led arrests. In Mubi North, Adamawa State, troops joined forces with local hunters to apprehend three Boko Haram members. During preliminary questioning, one suspect reportedly confessed to conducting surveillance on military positions and admitted that his unit had suffered “heavy casualties” in previous encounters.
The strangulation of the insurgents’ economy continued at the Mainok market, where three more logistics suppliers were detained. Troops seized livestock, cash, and communication equipment intended for the bush. Meanwhile, in Yobe State, a vehicle carrying two men with fresh gunshot wounds was intercepted; the suspects are believed to have fled from an earlier confrontation with the military.
Reflecting on the week’s achievements, the Military High Command lauded the resilience of the personnel on the front lines.
“The Military High Command commends the troops for their resilience, vigilance, and utmost professionalism,” Lieutenant Colonel Uba added, emphasising that morale remains high as the JTF continues to prioritise the “security and economic interest of the North East region.”
As investigations continue into the arrested collaborators and a foreign national detained under suspicious circumstances, the army has vowed to maintain its aggressive operational tempo to ensure the total disruption of terrorist networks. #Securitynewsalert.com
