Nigerian Army Vows Sustained Offensive Against Terrorists in North-East

-

The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying military operations against terrorist groups in the North-East, following what it described as a successful recent strike under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK).

In a statement issued on April 12, 2026, the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) said the operation underscores the military’s resolve to weaken insurgent activities in the region.

“This successful strike is yet another demonstration of the resolve and operational capability of OPHK to sustain relentless pressure on terrorist elements, disrupt their logistics networks, and deny them freedom of movement within the theatre,” the statement read.

The military also reiterated its ban on the use of motorcycles across the North-East operational theatre, particularly in Borno and Yobe states, citing their continued use by insurgents.

“The use of motorcycles remains strictly prohibited… due to their established and continued use by terrorist elements for movement, logistics, and attack operations. Any such movements in restricted areas are therefore treated with the utmost seriousness in line with existing operational directives,” the statement added.

The Joint Task Force assured residents of the region that operations would continue with increased momentum until insurgent strongholds are eliminated.

“The Joint Task Force (North East) OPHK assures the good people of the North East and indeed all law-abiding Nigerians, that ongoing operations will continue with renewed intensity until all terrorist enclaves are dismantled and lasting peace is restored to the region,” it said.
