Operatives of the Delta State Police Command, in collaboration with their counterparts from Anambra State, have carried out a coordinated patrol operation along key waterways in a renewed push to strengthen security across the region.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, ANIPR, FCIA, FIPMD, the operation, conducted on April 16, 2026, involved personnel drawn from the Marine Units of both state commands, with support from the Buffalo Team. The exercise was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations.
Edafe said the patrol covered critical waterways bordering the Second Niger Bridge axis through to the Asaba Grand Hotel area, noting that the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to combat crime and address emerging security threats in Delta State.
“This proactive operational engagement underscores the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and commuters across the state,” he said.
He added that all officers involved in the exercise were properly equipped with life jackets, in line with established safety protocols and professional standards.
“The operation was carried out successfully without any incident,” Edafe stated.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
