Militia group kills ASP at checkpoint in Zaki-Biam

An Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Peter Ojukpa has been killed by a suspected militia group in the Zaki-Biam area of Benue State.

Eyewitnesses said that the ASP was shot dead by local militia elements at a checkpoint mounted along a yam market road.

Before his death, Peter served in Zaki-Biam Divisional Police Station, under the Patrol/Guard (P&G) department.

The incident was said to have happened on Saturday 19th of November, 2022, at about 11:45 am.

Police sources said: “Ojukpa was alone at the checkpoint when the militia elements numbering about two arrived in a tricycle, whisked him away and shot dead, him leaving his corpse inside the bush. They carted away his AK-47 rifle. The remains of Ojukpa have been recovered by a team of police and community volunteer guards and deposited at the Saint Anthony Mortuary Zaki-Biam.”
