Two policewomen, who were part of the Borno State Police Command Contingents in the 13th Biennial Police Games, died today in an accident while heading to Uyo, Akwa-Ibom for the Nigerian Police Games.
Securitynewsalert.com heard that the Borno State Police Command contingents in the 13th Biennial Police Games tagged Uyo 23 left Maiduguri in the morning with the hope of taking part in all the events scheduled to take place but were involved in an accident.
Eyewitnesses said that three vehicles conveying the personnel to Akwa-Ibom, left the Borno State Police Command on Saturday, with their colleagues cheering, but the vehicles got involved in an accident, leaving two policewomen dead and many others injured.
According to sources, the two women had only recently been enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force.
It was also said: “Some of the officials and players of the Borno Contingents are currently receiving treatment at the Plateau State Specialist Hospital due to the degree of injuries sustained in the accident. The remaining players were asked to continue their journey to Uyo.”
