The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu,  on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, convened a high-level stakeholders’ dialogue at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, bringing together international development partners, diplomatic missions, and institutional stakeholders to advance ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.

The engagement, organised in collaboration with the Police Reform Secretariat (PRS), featured representatives from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UN Women, the British High Commission, the Governments of Germany, Spain, and Slovakia, as well as the National Institute for Police Studies (NIPS) and other development organisations committed to supporting policing reforms in Nigeria.

In his address, the IGP reaffirmed the Force’s dedication to building a modern, professional, intelligence-led, and accountable institution anchored on the rule of law, respect for human rights, and community partnership. He emphasised that the reform agenda is designed to transform the Nigeria Police into a technology-driven, citizen-focused institution capable of tackling contemporary security challenges.

Professor Olu Ogunsakin, Head of the Police Reform Secretariat, outlined the key pillars of the reform agenda, which include legal and policy reforms, election security management, leadership development, strategic stakeholder engagement, oversight systems, and community trust-building initiatives. He underscored the critical role of international partnerships in ensuring sustainable reforms and strengthening institutional capacity.

The Inspector-General reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to transparency, professionalism, discipline, and measurable reforms aligned with global best practices while addressing Nigeria’s unique security realities.
