The Delta State Police Command has intensified its offensive against cultism, illegal firearm possession, and violent crime across the state.
In a series of coordinated, intelligence-led operations, operatives arrested eleven suspects and recovered an assortment of firearms, ammunition, and dangerous weapons.
The crackdown began on May 14, 2026, at approximately 11:09 AM when operatives of the Buffalo Patrol Team responded to a distress call and raided a suspected cultist hideout at Eagle Square along Okpanam Road, Asaba. The raid resulted in the arrest of seven male and two female suspects. Law enforcement officers recovered one Beretta pistol, a battle axe, and a cutlass from the scene. Both the suspects and the exhibits have been transferred to the Command Anti-Cult Unit for deeper investigation.
Earlier that same day, at about 9:00 AM, the Safer Highway Patrol Team intercepted a Lexus Jeep with registration number KWL 139 CY during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Ughelli/Patani Road. A thorough search of the vehicle, driven by one Felix Ike, yielded an English-made pump-action gun and 40 rounds of live cartridges. The driver was immediately taken into custody, and investigations remain ongoing.
The offensive continued into the following day, May 15, 2026. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives from the Command Anti-Cult Unit apprehended 28-year-old Christopher Ogidigbo in Ogharaefe Town, located within the Ethiope-West Local Government Area. Authorities have identified Ogidigbo as a suspected kingpin of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity (SVC). A locally made revolver pistol was recovered during his arrest, and detectives are currently investigating his potential involvement in other regional criminal activities.
The Commissioner of Police for the Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for their professionalism and swift tactical responses. He reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to eradicating cultism and securing the state against violent crime.
