Anti-Corruption Fight: NLNG Boss Applauds Olukoyede for Giant Strides

-

Leye Falade, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited, NLNG, has applauded the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr Ola Olukoyede, for the impressive outcomes of the fight against corruption, economic and financial crimes in the country.

He gave the plaudits on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, when he led the top management team of the company on a courtesy visit to Olukoyede at the Commission’s corporate headquarters.

“I want to acknowledge the great strides that have been made in the fight against economic sabotage and financial crimes. I think it can only be left to imagination what you face as you do this on a national level. I want to personally, on behalf of the company, appreciate your tenacity,  courage and your commitment. We feel and understand you; we appreciate what you have to do in this duty, and we’re grateful for that because without that, we would not be safeguarded to do the work that we need to do,” he said.

Speaking further, he said, “We recognise the environment in which you work; we know things are tough. This is an appreciation for what you’re doing to help us have some sanity and hygiene in what we do and how we do things.”

Falade disclosed that the NLNG has incorporated the ideals of the EFCC in the company with the establishment of internal processes and governance that ensure the upholding of agreements and transactions, and a commitment to the ideals and principles of fairness and equity and observance of all things in line with rules and regulations.

“We are guided by ethics and ethos that will not only stand in Nigeria, but outside the country. We are proud to say that as a company, we will continue to be above board. We are very much aligned with your aspirations. You can be sure that as a company, we’re very much in the trenches with you. We also recognise that it’s part of what creates this brand for us as a nation. And we’re conscious of that,” he said.

Olukoyede, in his response, expressed delight with the visit and reminded Falade of the enormity of the responsibility bestowed on him as a management team leader of a flagship entity in the midstream sector of the country’s oil and gas industry.

“Without oil and gas, probably Nigeria would not be standing today. And I also want to appreciate the ethical values of the NLNG over the years and the good working relationship we have.

The EFCC boss observed that the Commission had a frosty relationship with the NLNG at some point, but the issues were resolved eventually and pledged cooperation of the anti-graft agency with the Falade-led management of the company.

“I want to extend a hand of fellowship to you. We’re willing to work with you. Our mandate is not only to enforce, but also to prevent, collaborate and create awareness. So,  we are always willing to collaborate with corporate entities like yours that contribute substantially towards the GDP of Nigeria,” he said.

Olukoyede reiterated that his approach is to stimulate the economy rather than stifle it, and doing so in a most responsible manner, disclosing that achieving this necessitated his establishment of a new department, Fraud Risk Assessment and Control, FRAC, about two years ago.

“With FRAC, we go into the MDAs, we look into their fraud risk and see how we can work with them to ensure that we reduce such risks and look into their financial records and the tax liability to ensure that they don’t flout financial laws. We are willing to work with you in this area as well.

“If there are issues of the internal compromise of your processes that would lead to fraud or fraudulent activities, which your internal processes may not be able to handle effectively, we will be able to support your organisation. If you need our support, please don’t hesitate to let us know.”
