Residents of Iganna Kingdom in Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State have been urged to remain vigilant following reports that some unidentified individuals, allegedly disguising themselves as destitute persons, have recently entered the community and are seeking accommodation.
In a security advisory signed by Sabiganna Media Officer, Sodiq Yusuf, community members were warned to exercise caution amid the prevailing security challenges across the country.
The statement called on landlords, property agents and caretakers to thoroughly screen and verify the identities of prospective tenants before offering accommodation to them.
“We urge all property owners in Iganna Kingdom, including landlords, agents and caretakers, to properly screen and verify the identities of prospective tenants and occupants before granting accommodation,” the statement said.
It also advised that existing occupants be profiled where necessary as part of efforts to strengthen community security and prevent potential threats.
The advisory further encouraged landlords’ associations across communities within the kingdom to take a more proactive role by holding regular meetings aimed at improving communication and implementing effective security measures.
According to the statement, any suspicious individual identified within the community should be promptly reported to the nearest police station, the nearest Chief’s House, or the palace for appropriate action.
Emphasising the need for collective vigilance, the community reminded residents that security is everyone’s responsibility.
“If you see something, say something,” the statement added.
The community expressed hope that Iganna Kingdom would continue to enjoy peace, safety and tranquillity through the cooperation of residents and stakeholders.
