A self-proclaimed Nigerian soldier has made a startling allegation, claiming that powerful cabals within the Nigerian government are directly responsible for the worsening insecurity crisis plaguing the country and warning that his life may be in danger for speaking out.
In a statement that has since gone viral on social media, the unidentified military personnel said: “These issues of insecurity in Nigeria are caused by some cabals in government. And those responsible need to be exposed, taken out and eliminated.”
The soldier, who acknowledged breaking a standing military directive prohibiting personnel from commenting publicly on social media, said his conscience compelled him to speak. “I know there’s an order for military personnel not to air their views on social media, but please, my heart is boiling at the moment,” he stated.
Most striking was his apparent anticipation of reprisals following the disclosure. “I know they will come for me after this,” he warned, before making a direct appeal to Nigerians: “If Nigerians no longer hear from me, please ask questions and hold my superiors accountable.”
The allegation, coming from within the ranks of the Nigerian military, adds a significant dimension to growing public frustration over the country’s security situation, which has seen mass kidnappings, banditry, and insurgency persist across multiple regions.
The soldier also used the opportunity to appeal to fellow military personnel to resist orders to suppress civilian demonstrations, urging troops to “make use of your brain” even when commanded to act against peaceful protesters. “How will you feel, or even sleep, if your children, wife, mother, father, or relative is one of the kidnap victims in the bush?” he asked.
The statements have caused widespread reaction online, with many Nigerians expressing solidarity with the soldier while calling on authorities to address the substance of his claims rather than pursue him for speaking out. The Nigerian Army is yet to respond officially to the viral posts. #Securitynewsalert.com
