A delegation from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), led by the Chief of Administration (Army), Major General I.M. Abdullahi, has paid condolence visits to the family of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar (rtd) and the Katsina State Government following the tragic death of the senior officer.
The delegation conveyed the sympathies of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General O.O. Oluyede, and the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to the bereaved family as well as the government and people of Katsina State.
At the family residence, Major General Abdullahi described the late Abubakar as a patriotic officer who served the nation with distinction for over three decades. He highlighted the deceased’s contributions to the Nigerian Army and the country’s security architecture, assuring the family that the military would pursue justice for his death while continuing to support them during this difficult period. In honour of his service, a National Flag was presented to the family.
Responding on behalf of the family, Alhaji Dikko Mu’azu Ruma, the Gado da Masun Katsina, expressed gratitude to the CDS and the Armed Forces for their support. He prayed for the peaceful repose of the late General’s soul and wished the delegation safe travels.
Earlier, the DHQ team visited the Katsina State Government House, where they were received by Deputy Governor Mallam Faruk Lawal Jobe. Major General Abdullahi conveyed condolences to the government and people of Katsina State, describing Abubakar as one of the state’s distinguished sons.
The Deputy Governor, in his remarks, said the loss was not only painful to Katsina but to the nation at large, stressing the need for stronger collaboration to tackle security challenges in the region.
Special prayers were offered both at the family residence and Government House for the peaceful repose of the late General’s soul.
Among those present during the visits were Major General W.B. Idris, Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA; Major General B.P. Koughna, General Officer Commanding 8 Division; Rear Admiral A.M. Haruna; Air Vice Marshal A.Y. Abdullahi; Major General J.S. Bindawa (rtd); Brigadier General S.K. Usman (rtd), mni; and Air Vice Marshal I.S. Kaita (rtd), alongside family members, traditional rulers, and other dignitaries.
