PASNAFOSA Commends Police Over Seizure of Military Camouflage, Arrest of 38 Foreign Nationals

-

The Prayer and Support for the Nigerian Armed Forces and Other Security Agencies (PASNAFOSA) has commended the Nigeria Police Force for intercepting a truckload of military camouflage uniforms, firearms and illicit substances in Lagos State, describing the operation as a major boost to national security efforts.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Convener of PASNAFOSA, Ambassador Mary Abayomi-Fatile, praised the Lagos State Police Command and its Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, for what she described as a display of vigilance, professionalism and operational effectiveness.

“We commend the Nigeria Police Force for its vigilance, professionalism and operational effectiveness, particularly in relation to the recent interception of a truckload containing military camouflage, firearms and illicit substances in Lagos State,” Abayomi-Fatile said.

She noted that the recovery and public display of thousands of military camouflage uniforms, assorted firearms and prohibited substances demonstrated the command’s commitment to combating crime and safeguarding national security.

“The successful recovery of these items reflects the strong commitment of the Lagos State Police Command to combating crime and protecting national security,” she stated.

PASNAFOSA also applauded the arrest of 38 foreign nationals in the Epe area of Lagos State, whose mission in Nigeria could not be satisfactorily established by authorities.

“The apprehension of thirty-eight foreign nationals whose mission in Nigeria could not be satisfactorily established reflects the proactive posture of the Nigeria Police in identifying and neutralising potential threats before they manifest into security breaches capable of endangering lives and undermining public safety,” she said.

The group further commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, for providing leadership that has translated into operational successes across the country.

“We commend the Inspector-General of Police for providing purposeful and inspiring leadership that continues to produce notable operational successes across the nation, especially at a time when Nigeria faces significant security challenges,” Abayomi-Fatile added.

According to PASNAFOSA, the operation underscores the dedication of police officers and other security personnel who continue to make sacrifices in the service of the nation despite difficult and often life-threatening conditions.

“The operation is a clear demonstration of the vigilance, professionalism and commitment of the Nigeria Police Force in the ongoing fight against crime and insecurity. We also salute the courage, resilience and dedication of officers and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies who continue to make immense sacrifices in the service of our nation,” she said.

The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to praying for members of the armed forces and other security agencies, expressing confidence that their efforts would lead to greater victories against criminality and contribute to lasting peace and security across Nigeria.

PASNAFOSA also called on security agencies to intensify efforts toward securing the release of schoolchildren and teachers still being held captive by kidnappers.

“Every day spent in the hands of abductors deepens the anguish of affected families and represents a painful wound on the conscience of the nation,” Abayomi-Fatile said.

While acknowledging the challenges confronting security personnel, the group urged Nigerians to support security agencies and avoid blanket condemnation of their efforts.

“These gallant men and women remain on the frontlines day and night, often separated from their families and loved ones, making tremendous sacrifices to safeguard lives, protect communities and preserve the peace and stability of the nation,” she stated.

The organisation further appealed to citizens to provide useful information and cooperate with security agencies, stressing that national security is a collective responsibility.

“The responsibility of securing Nigeria requires a collective effort between the security services and the public. Citizens should continue to support security agencies with credible information and cooperation to enhance the safety and security of all Nigerians,” Abayomi-Fatile added.
