In a major boost to internal security and personnel welfare, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) have officially commissioned the newly constructed Taraba State Police Command Headquarters, alongside a modern Divisional Police Headquarters in the Yorro Local Government Area.
The twin projects underscore a renewed commitment by the Federal Government to upgrade police infrastructure and enhance operational efficiency nationwide.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, who was represented at the ceremony by the Taraba State Commissioner of Police, CP Morkwap Sebastine Dongshal, expressed deep gratitude to the Federal Government and the NPTF for their unwavering support.
Speaking on behalf of the IGP, CP Dongshal emphasised that modern infrastructure is vital to the NPF’s evolving strategy.
“These projects align perfectly with the Inspector-General’s people-centred policing vision,” CP Dongshal stated. “Our primary emphasis is on improved welfare, modern infrastructure, and creating a conducive working environment for the officers and men of the Force so they can better protect Nigerian citizens.”
The Executive Secretary of the NPTF, Alhaji Mohammed Sheidu, reaffirmed the fund’s mandate to equip the police with the necessary tools to combat crime effectively, noting that top-tier facilities are essential for national safety.
“The newly commissioned facilities underscore the Federal Government’s dedication to strengthening internal security and enhancing the capacity of the Police to effectively discharge its constitutional responsibilities,” Sheidu said. “The Trust Fund will continue to partner with the Nigeria Police Force in advancing initiatives aimed at improving police welfare, operational efficiency, and service delivery across the country.”
The Executive Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas (Rtd), speaking through his representative, CP Cyril Agbe (Rtd), praised the collaboration between the federal agencies and the state. Governor Kefas described the new facilities as a vital asset for the region’s stability, calling the projects “critical investments in the security and development of Taraba State.”
With these new facilities now fully operational, the Nigeria Police Force reiterates its commitment to leveraging strategic partnerships to boost personnel morale and ensure quality policing services for all Nigerians.
