Troops of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have rescued six kidnapped victims in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State after they escaped from their abductors.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 17 Brigade, Captain Abayomi Adisa, the victims were rescued on June 29, 2026, during a routine foot patrol by troops deployed at Unguwan Doka.
The statement said the soldiers intercepted the victims, who were wandering through the bush after escaping from their captors. The rescued victims were identified as Mrs. Umaima Isiaku, 30; Amina Isiaku, 16; Safiya Isiaku, 15; Ramatu Suleiman, 30; Muhammad Shehu, 4; and Ibrahim Suleiman, 2.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims had been abducted by armed bandits from Unguwan Lado in Kankara Local Government Area on June 22, 2026.
The Army said the troops immediately administered first aid to the victims, provided them with food and other essential support before reuniting them with their families.
Reacting to the development, the Commander of the 17 Brigade, Brigadier General Ishaya Ibrahim, reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining offensive operations against criminal elements operating within its area of responsibility.
He also assured residents that the Nigerian Army would continue efforts to protect lives and property and intensify operations aimed at restoring peace and security across Katsina State. #Securitynewsalert.com
