Troops Dismantle Illegal Arms Manufacturing Syndicate, Recover Locally Made AK-47 Rifles in Kebbi

-

Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have dismantled a criminal syndicate involved in the manufacture and supply of locally fabricated firearms to terrorist groups in Kebbi State, recovering five locally made AK-47 rifles and arresting two suspects.

According to the Joint Task Force’s Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the operation followed credible intelligence that led troops to a secluded compound allegedly used by the suspects to manufacture weapons while evading security surveillance.

He said a thorough search of the premises resulted in the recovery of five locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, while two suspected arms manufacturers and suppliers were taken into custody.

Danja stated that the operation was carried out in collaboration with other security agencies, describing it as a demonstration of the effectiveness of inter-agency cooperation in disrupting terrorist logistics and dismantling criminal networks across the North-West.

He noted that the raid forms part of Operation FANSAN YAMMA’s sustained efforts to curb the proliferation of illicit arms and deny terrorist groups access to weapons used in violent attacks.

The suspects are currently in military custody undergoing preliminary interrogation, while investigations have commenced to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate, as well as their financiers and collaborators.

The Theatre Command commended the professionalism and commitment of the troops and partner security agencies involved in the operation.

It also appealed to residents of the North-West to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, stressing that public cooperation is critical to ongoing efforts to eliminate criminal elements and improve security across the region.
