The daughter of a retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), Barr. Azubuko J. Udah, Dr Mercy Ekeoma Azubuko-Udah, will marry her fiancé, Mr Nahtali-Noel Nkongho, in a wedding ceremony scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Lake Hughes, California, United States.
The bride’s parents jointly announced the wedding, retired DIG Azubuko J. Udah and his wife, Mrs Suzanne Ngozi Azubuko-Udah, alongside the groom’s parents, Mr and Mrs Joseph Nkongho.
According to the families, the wedding festivities will span two days, beginning with a pre-wedding programme on Friday, July 17, at 1:00 p.m., followed by the solemnisation of holy matrimony and wedding reception on Saturday, July 18, at 3:00 p.m.
Both events will take place at 42505 Ranch Club Road, Lake Hughes, California 93532, United States.
The families have invited relatives, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers to join them in celebrating the union of the couple.
Retired DIG Udah is a distinguished former senior police officer and legal practitioner.
During his career in the Nigeria Police Force, he served as Commissioner of Police in Yobe, Borno, Benue and Akwa Ibom states, as well as Commissioner of Police, INTERPOL.
He also held key leadership positions as Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zones 5 (Benin), 12 (Calabar), and 2 (Lagos) before retiring as Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Finance and Administration.
Udah is widely credited with conceptualising the Niger Delta Amnesty Programme, which contributed to the disarmament of militants during the administration of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
A member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the International Bar Association, the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Udah has remained active in public affairs, contributing to discussions on policing, national security and law enforcement reforms.
He also contested the Abia North Senatorial seat in 2015 and has played a prominent role in political activities in Abia State.
