Lagos Police Officers Sensitised on Insurance, Welfare Schemes

-

The Lagos State Police Command has organised a sensitisation lecture on police insurance and welfare schemes as part of ongoing efforts by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to improve the welfare of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, saying the lecture was delivered by ACP Ameh Lydia of the Force Insurance Section.

According to Adebisi, Lydia reaffirmed the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police and the Force Insurance Section to the welfare of police personnel while educating officers on the structure and functions of the Force Insurance Section and the various insurance and welfare benefits available to them.

She said the schemes include the Group Life Assurance Scheme, Nigeria Police Welfare Insurance Scheme, Group Personal Accident Scheme, IGP Family Welfare Insurance Scheme, and the newly introduced Voluntary Contributions Scheme.

“The Voluntary Contributions Scheme provides officers with an additional avenue to strengthen their welfare and financial security,” Lydia said.

She also briefed officers on the ongoing sale of shares of the Nigeria Police Force Insurance Company, urging interested personnel to take advantage of the investment opportunity.

Speaking during the programme, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the Inspector-General of Police for prioritising the welfare of personnel and lauded the Force Insurance Section for organising the sensitisation exercise.

Fatai encouraged officers to take full advantage of the available insurance and welfare schemes, stressing that improved welfare is key to boosting morale, productivity and effective service delivery.

“Officers should take full advantage of the various insurance and welfare schemes available to them, as improved welfare remains essential to enhancing morale, productivity and effective service delivery,” the commissioner said.

The sensitisation programme forms part of the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing initiatives to strengthen the welfare and financial security of its personnel.
