The Prayer and Support for the Nigerian Armed Forces and Other Security Agencies (PSNAFSA) has expressed deep condolences to retired Major General Moundhey Gadzama Ali following the death of his wife, Late Mrs Japari Ali, JP (née Ubandoma).
In a statement released by its Convener, Ambassador Mary Abayomi-Fatile, the organisation conveyed sympathy and solidarity with the grieving family, praying for divine comfort and strength during this period of mourning.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences and solidarity with retired Major General Moundhey Gadzama Ali and his entire family during this difficult time. We pray that God grants them the strength, comfort and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement read.
The group also prayed for the peaceful repose of Mrs Japari Ali, describing her passing as a painful loss to her family and community.
Major General Ali, a distinguished retired officer of the Nigerian Army, is widely recognised as the pioneer Commander of the Nigerian Special Forces. Over his 34-year career, he held several strategic appointments, including serving as Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Infantry and as the pioneer Commandant of the Nigerian Army Special Forces School in Buni Yadi, Yobe State.
He also contributed to international peacekeeping missions, notably in Liberia.
Since retirement, Ali has remained active in community development, spearheading initiatives such as the inauguration of a 120,000-litre water supply scheme in his hometown of Lassa, Borno State, in 2022.
PSNAFSA concluded its message by praying that God would continue to uphold the bereaved family and grant them the grace to overcome the painful loss, as the military community and wider society join in mourning the late Mrs Japari Ali.
