Osun Assembly Speaker Attack: Suspect Says He Was Hired by APC Rep Candidate Eniade

-

A man arrested by security operatives over an attack linked to the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, has reportedly confessed that he was hired by Francis Eniade, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ifelodun, Boripe and Odo-Otin Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, SaharaReporters has reported.

According to the news outlet, the suspect was apprehended in possession of a police uniform and a firearm. His confession reportedly came during an interrogation session that was captured on video and reviewed by SaharaReporters.

In the recording, the handcuffed suspect is said to have acknowledged ownership of the weapon used in the attack and admitted to discharging it twice during the incident. He also reportedly told his interrogators that he had been working for Eniade and had trailed him to the scene where the attack took place.

SaharaReporters said that when operatives pressed him on why he did not leave the scene alongside Eniade afterwards, the suspect insisted the gun was his and that he was the one who had used it, telling them, “The gun belongs to me. My office owns it, and I’m the one using it.”

Asked to clarify whether the weapon belonged to his office or to him personally, he reportedly said he owned it but linked it to one Ayodeji Onayemisi. He further admitted, according to the outlet, that he had brought the firearm into the state from Lagos.

SaharaReporters noted that the interrogation video underpins the suspect’s account implicating Eniade in the planning and execution of the attack on the Osun Assembly Speaker.
