IGP Sends Condolences, Deploys Reinforcements After Bin’per Community Attack Kills 24

-

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered an on-the-spot assessment of Bin’per Community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, following an attack that claimed the lives of about 24 residents, left several others injured, and destroyed property.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police represented the IGP in charge of Zone 4, Makurdi, AIG Dankombo F. Morris, who visited the community on Thursday alongside the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, CP Ayoade Faniyan, and other senior officers.

During the visit, the team assessed the security situation on the ground and reviewed measures being put in place to strengthen protection for residents and prevent a repeat of the attack.

Speaking to affected residents, AIG Morris conveyed the IGP’s deep concern over the incident, describing the attack as barbaric and unacceptable. He extended sympathy to the families of those killed and gave assurances that the Force was committed to tracking down and apprehending those responsible.

According to the police, additional personnel and operational assets have already been deployed to the area to strengthen security, with efforts ongoing to restore residents’ confidence so they can safely return to their homes and livelihoods.

AIG Morris also paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, where he relayed condolences from the IGP to the state government and people of Plateau over the incident.

In response, Governor Mutfwang expressed concern about the attack and reaffirmed his administration’s support for ongoing security operations to apprehend the perpetrators, prevent further attacks, and restore lasting peace to affected communities.

The Nigeria Police Force says it remains committed to working with the Plateau State Government and other security agencies to strengthen security and safeguard residents across the state.
