Detectives from the Ibafo Division of the Ogun State Police Command have dismantled a three-member child-stealing syndicate, arresting three female suspects and rescuing three children in a targeted intelligence-led operation.
The arrested suspects have been identified as 36-year-old Kikelomo Jimoh, Kayode Elizabeth, and 60-year-old Blessing Anochike.
According to police officials, the operation was initiated following a reported case of child theft.
“The breakthrough followed sustained intelligence-led investigation into a reported case of child stealing, which led to the arrest of Kikelomo Jimoh,” the Ogun State Police Command stated. ”
During the investigation, the suspect allegedly confessed and led detectives to the residence of Blessing Anochike, where three children were rescued.”
The rescued victims have been identified as 14-year-old Christiana Olowokere, 16-year-old Olamilekan Abdurusheed, and 12-year-old Adeniji Rebecca. Preliminary police findings revealed that Olowokere was allegedly sold for ₦500,000, while Abdurusheed was abducted after fleeing his parents’ residence. Investigators are still examining the circumstances surrounding the movement and custody of Rebecca.
All three children are now reported safe, and the suspects remain in police custody.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, to “establish the full circumstances of the case, determine the individual roles of the suspects, and identify any other persons connected to the alleged criminal enterprise.”
Commending the Ibafo Division, the Commissioner of Police for Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, praised the team’s “swift response, investigative diligence, and commitment to protecting children and other vulnerable persons.”
CP Ojajuni reassured the public that the command remains “proactive and resolute in detecting, disrupting, and dismantling criminal networks that target vulnerable members of society.” He urged parents, community leaders, and transport operators to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.
