The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening strategic collaborations with government institutions in the fight against substandard, falsified, and unwholesome regulated products in Nigeria.
During a courtesy visit by the Chief Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission (PCC), Bashir Abubakar, NAFDAC’s Director-General, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, emphasised that partnerships with relevant stakeholders are critical to curbing the importation and circulation of counterfeit medicines and unsafe food products.
Professor Adeyeye assured that the agency will continue to safeguard public health by ensuring that regulated products circulating in Nigeria are safe, efficacious, and compliant with both national and international standards. She noted that NAFDAC’s operations are firmly anchored on regulatory compliance and quality assurance.
Commending NAFDAC’s efforts, PCC Chief Commissioner Bashir Abubakar highlighted the role of the commission as Nigeria’s Ombudsman, which receives complaints from citizens and stakeholders across various sectors. He advocated for an expanded inter-agency collaboration framework to enhance intelligence gathering, monitoring, and enforcement across the supply chain.
According to Abubakar, such collaboration would strengthen Nigeria’s fight against counterfeit medicines and substandard products, ensuring a more holistic approach to protecting consumers and public health.
