Anambra Police Beef Up Security in Schools Ahead of New Academic Session

-

The Anambra State Police Command has intensified security around schools across the state as the new academic session begins, in line with the Inspector-General of Police’s Safe School Initiative.

The operation, coordinated by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, ACP Harrison Oruruo, brings together police personnel, sister security agencies, and other stakeholders in a joint effort to protect students and staff.

In a statement issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the police explained the objectives behind the deployment.

“This deployment is aimed at strengthening security around our educational institutions, sensitising pupils and students on personal safety, assisting school children with safe road crossing, and ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment for all,” the statement read.

The Commissioner of Police, Nnanna Oji Ama, was quoted in the statement reaffirming the Command’s dedication to protecting the school community.

“The safety of our children, teachers, and the entire school community remains a top priority for this Command,” the CP said.

He further called on school authorities, parents, guardians, and students to play their part in maintaining a secure environment.

“We urge school authorities, parents, guardians, and students to remain vigilant at all times and to promptly report any suspicious persons or activities to the police,” the CP added.

The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to safeguard schools nationwide as the academic calendar resumes.
