The Lagos State Police Command has identified the police inspector featured in a viral video making inappropriate remarks while travelling in a public transport vehicle as Inspector Osumah Frank.
The Command said it had commenced disciplinary action against the officer in accordance with the established regulations of the Nigeria Police Force.
In a statement issued on Friday, September 25, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the officer’s remarks were made in his personal capacity and did not represent the position or official disposition of either the Lagos State Police Command or the Nigeria Police Force.
The development followed the circulation of the video on social media, in which the police officer was heard making what the Command described as “careless, inappropriate and uncultured remarks” while travelling in public transport.
According to the Command, the identification of the officer and commencement of disciplinary proceedings were in line with its commitment to transparency and accountability.
The statement quoted the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, as reiterating that police personnel must maintain professionalism, civility, discipline and respect for members of the public at all times.
Fatai also stressed that wearing the police uniform carried a responsibility to protect the dignity and integrity of the Force.
The Commissioner, according to the statement, said the Command would not condone conduct capable of bringing the police into disrepute or undermining public confidence in the institution.
“The statements made by the officer were made in his personal capacity and do not represent the position, views or official disposition of the Lagos State Police Command or the Nigeria Police Force,” the Command said.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and policing with humility and integrity.
The disciplinary action against Inspector Frank is expected to determine whether his conduct breached applicable regulations governing the behaviour and professionalism of police personnel.
