 Police Rescue 20 Abducted Prospective NYSC Corps Members in Imo

The Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with other security agencies, has rescued the 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members abducted in Imo State.

The victims were abducted on October 1, 2026, and were rescued on Wednesday, October 7, at Amakohia Ubi Village in Imo State following sustained search-and-rescue operations.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

According to him, the rescued victims have been taken for medical assessment and necessary care.

He said security agencies were continuing efforts to apprehend the perpetrators of the abduction.

“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the abduction, as the Police and other security agencies sustain coordinated operations towards bringing all culpable persons to justice,” Iniedu said.

The police spokesperson also thanked members of the public for their cooperation and support during the rescue operation.

“The Nigeria Police Force appreciates members of the public for their cooperation and support and remains committed to the protection of lives and property, prompt response to security threats and continued collaboration with sister security agencies,” he said.

The rescue brings to an end the six-day ordeal of the 20 prospective corps members, while security agencies continue efforts to track down those responsible for their abduction.
