The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected cultists allegedly terrorising the Lekki, Ajah and Elemoro axis of the state, and recovered a locally made cut-to-size gun during a search of one of the suspects’ homes.
The arrests followed what the Command described as credible and actionable intelligence received by its operatives between October 2 and October 9, 2026. They form part of the Command’s ongoing efforts to combat cultism and other criminal activities across Lagos State.
The suspects are Arisekola Ojo, 32; Oluwatobi Oyewole, 29; Oluwaseyi Odunewu, 32; and Olumagba Ifatope, 29. All four are male. They were arrested over their alleged involvement in criminal conspiracy and membership of an unlawful society.
Police said the gun was recovered after the suspects confessed during investigation. It was found during a search of Odunewu’s residence.
According to the Command, the suspects have made useful statements. Investigators are now working to arrest other individuals linked to the alleged crimes and to recover more firearms.
Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling cult groups and other criminal networks in the state. He warned those involved in cultism and other criminal activities to desist or face the full wrath of the law.
The Commissioner also urged residents to keep providing credible and timely information to the police to improve security in their communities.
