The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man, Michael Ayisa, for allegedly robbing a female Point-of-Sale (POS) operator of ₦200,000 at gunpoint in Udenu Local Government Area.
Operatives also recovered a pistol and an expended 9mm ammunition shell from the suspect.
According to the Command, the robbery took place at about 9:00 a.m. on October 17, 2026, at the victim’s shop along Old Orba Road, Uhulor, Obollo-Afor. Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim raised an alarm as the suspect fled the scene, and that he allegedly threatened to shoot anyone who attempted to chase him.
Acting on a report of the incident, police operatives attached to the Udenu Division, supported by members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group, tracked down and arrested the suspect at Obollo-Afor at about 12:26 p.m. the following day, October 18.
Police said a Beretta-like pistol and the spent 9mm shell were found on him, and that he confessed to the crime during interrogation.
The Command said the suspect will be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded.
Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the operatives for the successful operation and acknowledged the complementary support of the Neighbourhood Watch Group. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to fighting crime and urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities to the police and other recognised security agencies.
