A policeman attached to the Alausa Police Division, identified as Alhaji Kabiru Odejimi has been accused of killing a 24 years old generator engineer Mr. Bakare Idris Damola.

The accusation was made by Take it back Movement@TIBmovement on Twitter and the group tagged the Force spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi.

The group said: “The Take It Back (TIB) Movement bemoaned the death of Damola, who was extra-judicially murdered on his way from a party on Sunday evening 28th of May 2023 by a well-known notorious officer named Alhaji Kabiru Odejimi, attached to the Alausa Division.

“We frown at the aforementioned heartbreaking news and we strongly condemn it in all totality. The Nigerian police not only engage the masses with brute force but also institutionalised human rights violations and extrajudicial murder.

“It is important to state that extrajudicial killings by uniform personnel, especially the police have become a primary cause of death in the country. In fact, they have killed over 13,000 people since 2011.”

A statement, which was signed by the group’s Publicity Secretary, Adekunle Adeyemi Taofeek, further stated: “This described human rights violations in the forms of unlawful killing/detention and disregard for court orders has become very rife with men of the Nigeria Police Force.

“While extending our condolences, we demand swift action against the killer police and compensation to the family of the deceased. We demand immediate arrest and prosecution of Officer Kabiru Odejimi, and this should be done without delay.”
